Since 1964, the Lomakov family has been collecting and restoring antique cars and motorcycles, but due to bureaucratic problems, the Museum of Antique Cars and Motorcycles was not opened until the late 1999. The museum's collection includes more than 85 antique cars and motorcycles. To support his museum, director Dmitrii Lomakov rents his cars to Russian film studios.

The most interesting exhibition pieces are Stalin's ZIS-110 limousine; one of only two original "Katisha" military rocket vehicles that scared Germans in World War II; a 1935 German Horh-853; a 1942 Harley-Davidson military bike, and many more.

These are the details of my current project named "The Moscow Museum of antique cars and motorcycles".

(translation 01.06.1998)

For 40 years me and my family were locating, restoring and collecting antique cars and motorcycles, resulting in an unique collection of 120 great historic cars, trucks and bikes. The items differ from the "Peugeot" motorcycle of 1914 (which was left by French army troops in Arkhangelsk in 1918) to 1977 "GAZ-13" "Chaika", the official government limousine that was presented to The Patriarch of Russia Pimen by the KPSU General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. Below I have some of my collection's gems listed.

There is a "Horch-853", the same one that was named "Car of the Year" in Paris Auto Show in 1935 and later belonged to Herman Hering, a 1936 "Mercedes-Benz-540K" cabriolet C used by German Propaganda Minister Joseph Gebbels, and a 1935 "Mercedes-Benz-540SKL" cabriolet A Unique(sole) in the world, a 1939 "Mercedes-Benz-320" pulman-limusine, taken from Martin Borman's family garage, the 1935 Paris-Moscow rally winner "Citroen-7CV", presented to the Soviet Government by the Citroen's Chief Engineer Francua Leco, a 1949 Russian limousine "ZiS-110", presented to the Patriarch of Russia Alexiy I by Joseph Stalin. There are also the rarest "BMW-303" from 1933 and the aluminum "BMW-328" of 1938 and the one and only known to exist "ZiS-6" "Katyusha" (the W.W.II Russian Missile Launcher). There are also many examples of the vintage "Harley-Davidson", "Indian", "NSU", "DKW", "Studebaker", "Stayer", "Triumph", "Ariel", "Adler", "Dodge", "Opel", "Fiat", "Ardi", "NAG", "Hudson", "Sax", Russian made "PMZ", "GAZ", "ZiS", "TiZ", "Izh", "Red October", the famous "GAZ-AA" "Polutorka" truck and many other.

The cars from my collection have been shot in movies like "Hello! I'm your Aunt!", "The "Cooperation" Operation" and many other (more then 120!).

After few years of hard paperwork and endless waiting I have been finally given a 1gectar (10000m) piece of land for the purpose of building "The Museum of antique Cars and Motorcycles"- the first of it's kind in Russia. The place is located near the "Lyublino" Metro station, beside the 58 number of Krasnodarskaya street in Moscow. This fact of presenting land for such purpose by the Moscow Municipality is pretty unique by it's own.

I would like to state, that it will be actually the first private museum in Russia since 1917. What we see here is the actual rebirth of the tradition of engaging the necessary funds by the private initiators in great purpose of keeping and maintaining the national culture heritage.

By the time of this writing the design of the first stage (first building about 500 square meters) has been almost completed and the decision of assigning of the general constructor for the project is being made. The construction should be completed in about 4 month.

For the purpose of collecting the necessary funds, "The Public Council of Trustees" has been created. Among the Council members are the exclusive dealer of the "Turtle Wax" products "Zoom Energy Corp.", the "Power International" company, the tire store network "Koleso", "Hewlett-Packard" corporation, the Russian telecommunications network "Rosnet". I also get help from the "Moscow behind the wheel", "Business World", "Tverskaya 13", "Moscow Times" and the "Capital" newspapers, the "Autoradio" and the "Europe Plus" radio stations and many others. The successful talks to attract more investors are being made. The Moscow Municipality with the Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov himself is showing real interest and participation in creating the first Russia vintage vehicle museum. Every day we are getting more and more attention and acknowledgment from different sources- government agencies, media, companies and private citizens.

The names of our sponsors will be placed on the walls of the museum. They will step into the history as Zvetaev, Tretyakov and Mamontov did once.

Right now You have a chance to be among these names. Don't miss it!

With regards, Lomakov Dmitry, Representative of the Lomakov family, the general manager of The First Russian "Museum of Antique Cars and Motorcycles", the President of the - "Russian antique cars and motorcycles owners club - "Retromotor"".
